Web chat

Web chat is the workspace’s browser chat. People sign in, pick an agent and a model, and chat. Each workspace has one web chat address:

https://<your-virtuai-host>/chat/w/<workspace-slug>

Web chat is not anonymous. To chat, a person signs in with a VirtuAI account that is a member of the workspace. Any role works. See Users and roles.

If your organization reaches VirtuAI through Google Cloud IAP, a platform administrator can let people from approved email domains in without a separate sign-in. They set this under Workspaces, in IAP / Web Chat Access.

  1. Open Agents and edit the agent.

  2. In Channels, turn on Web Chatbot. The card reads Visible in workspace selector when it’s on.

  3. In AI Model Configuration, choose the provider and default model. Then select the models people may switch to in web chat.

  4. Save the agent.

Agents with Web Chatbot off don’t appear in the agent picker.

In the agent’s Integration URLs, copy Web Chat UI. It opens the workspace chat.

To open a specific agent, add its agent ID:

https://<your-virtuai-host>/chat/w/<workspace-slug>?agent=<agent-id>

You can show web chat inside another page with an iframe:

<iframe
src="https://<your-virtuai-host>/chat/w/<workspace-slug>?agent=<agent-id>"
title="Assistant"
style="width: 100%; height: 640px; border: 0;"
allow="microphone"
></iframe>
  • People sign in inside the frame, the same as on the full page.
  • allow="microphone" is only needed if people will record voice notes.
  • Pick an agent and, if you allowed more than one, a model.
  • Attach up to 3 files per message, 10 MB each: images (JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP), PDF, plain text, CSV, Markdown, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Record a voice message. It’s transcribed and sent to the agent as text, and the recording stays playable in the chat.
  • Stop a reply, edit a sent message, copy a reply, and select Continue when a reply was cut off at the output limit.
  • Reopen past conversations from History, or start a New conversation.
  • Answer command approval prompts: Allow once, Allow for this chat, Allow 60 min, Always allow or Deny.

Voice message transcription uses Google Cloud Speech-to-Text. You can set the model and languages with TRANSCRIPTION_MODEL and TRANSCRIPTION_LANGUAGE_CODES in Settings.

In Settings, under Webchat Appearance, set the workspace’s colors:

Setting Changes
Button Color Primary buttons
User Bubble Color The person’s message bubbles
Avatar Background Color The circle behind the agent’s avatar
Accent Color The agent name label and the input focus ring

Each agent can also have its own avatar image. Set it by image URL when you edit the agent.

People can rate any reply with Good response or Bad response. Review the ratings under Monitor > Feedback, and filter them by positive or negative. Full transcripts are in Conversations.

“No agents available” : No agent in the workspace has Web Chatbot on.

“No models available for this agent” : The agent has no models selected for web chat. Edit the agent and select at least one in AI Model Configuration.

The embedded chat is blank or refuses to load : The site’s origin isn’t on the deployment’s allowed frame origins. See Embed it in another site.

“You are not a member of this workspace” : The person signed in with an account that isn’t in this workspace. Invite them under Users.
