Budgets
Model calls are billed to your provider accounts, using your keys. Budgets lets you cap how much a workspace’s agents use, so a busy agent or a runaway loop doesn’t run up a bill.
Open Manage > Budgets. Seeing budgets requires budgets.view; creating, editing and deleting them requires budgets.manage.
Add a limit
Section titled “Add a limit”- Select Add Limit.
- Choose the Provider: Anthropic, Google Gemini or OpenAI.
- Choose a Model, or All models to cover every model from that provider.
- Choose the Period: daily or monthly.
- Set a Token limit, a Cost limit (USD), or both. The limit is reached when either one is.
- Choose what happens when it’s reached:
- Block: new agent runs are rejected.
- Warn only: runs continue, and the overage is logged.
- Leave Active on, and select Create Limit.
Inactive limits are kept but not enforced.
How limits are counted
Section titled “How limits are counted”- Periods follow UTC: a daily limit resets at 00:00 UTC, a monthly one on the first of the month.
- Usage through Vertex AI counts toward its provider: Claude on Vertex AI toward Anthropic, Gemini on Vertex AI toward Google Gemini.
- A limit for All models adds up every model from that provider. You can combine it with limits for specific models. If any Block limit that covers the model is reached, the run is blocked.
- Cost is VirtuAI’s estimate from token counts and a price table. Your provider’s invoice is the authoritative figure.
Current Period Usage shows each active limit with the tokens and cost used so far in the period, and whether it’s OK or Exceeded.
When a limit is reached
Section titled “When a limit is reached”VirtuAI checks the limits before each agent run on web chat, WhatsApp, Google Chat, Telegram, Slack and A2A, and before each evaluation run. With Block, the person gets this message instead of an answer:
The daily usage limit for this agent has been reached. New requests are temporarily blocked. Please contact your workspace administrator.
The monthly version says “monthly”. To unblock, raise the limit, turn it off, or wait for the next period.
Usage history
Section titled “Usage history”Usage records are kept for 90 days. For longer-term reporting, use Analytics or your provider’s billing console.
